Spinal Mechanics Explained in
DVD: SPINAL MECHANICS AND BONY LOCKING by John Bayliss DO
Narrated by Lindsey Gleeson

For this reason, Peter O’Toole and John Bayliss DO set about making a film that would explain the current theories on spinal mechanics in a way that would be easy to understand and be informative.
To do this, the best of the current and past theories on spinal mechanics were thoroughly researched, but there was a real problem. The theories did not complement each other, or allow for ‘real world’ movements, or explain walking mechanics. In other words the engine was not driving the wheels. This left a dilemma, abandon the project or investigate for themselves how the joints articulate.
The spine was placed on the drawing board; the coffee was put on and a start was made from afresh. From this beginning a complete new concept of five ‘ground breaking’ new theories on spinal mechanics were discovered.
A working knowledge of spinal mechanics and the physiology of the spine are essential for those who practice manipulation, medicine and work in body science related subjects.

Convincingly John was able to explain and demonstrate how the sacroiliac and vertebral joints work in harmony, complimented each other and for the first time ever illustrate the ‘real world’ mechanics of walking. Most importantly, the results could be replicated.
As if that was not enough, John was able to scientifically demonstrate how joints subluxate and predict by calculation how joint subluxation patterns form. These findings coincided exactly with ‘real world’ subluxation patterns seen daily in every therapist’s clinic. And explain why subluxations do not show up on X-ray.
These new spinal theories were then filmed in great detail by Peter O’Toole and shown working in ‘real world’ movements. Stunning close up shots of the articulation process were recorded.
Some of the problems encountered with the existing sacroiliac theories and the ‘Bayliss Sacroiliac Theory’ are illustrated to show that John’s new theories have a solid physiological basis.
